Courses
The following courses are open to anyone and are ten days in
duration, which can be spread over a ten week period or longer if
required. A taster weekend option from Friday to Sunday can also
be arranged.
Courses facilitated at Art Therapy Works are limited to
minimum of four and a maximum of six participants. Larger groups
can be facilitated in community or corporate settings.
"Exploring Your Own Creativity"
The aim of this introductory course is to deliver an art
therapy programme which will encourage individuals to use the arts
as a vehicle for personal development, self expression,
developing new skills and techniques in using the arts. Each
workshop will engage participants in using the full range of art
materials, such as paint, collage, clay, dry materials and
mud-rock to explore aspects of the "self" within a therapeutic
context. This will encompass personal issues, self identity and
community identity.
"Life Journey through the Family Album"
This course aims to encourage individuals to explore their own
family albums or the absence of one, as stimulus for psychological
and emotional healing. Participants will look at the journeys made
by themselves and their loved ones and reflect on their memories
and the constant flow of life, looking at their gains, losses,
happiest and most painful moments within a therapeutic context.
Using the full range of art materials including photography
and collage, participants will explore aspects of individual,
family and community identity in order to create individual life
size portraits.
"Coming Home - Using the Wisdom of Oz"
The course will encourage participants to make a journey of
'home coming' to the 'self' which will encompass personal issues,
self identity within the family and the wider community. Working
in a therapeutic context, participants will be given the
opportunity to use a wide range of art materials, puppets,
sandplay, music and story telling to find expression for their
journey back to the "self" and reflect on their journey so far,
reclaiming and retelling their personal discoveries through the
metaphor of the 'The Wisdom of Oz' which is based on the story -
'The Wizard of Oz'. |
